Workplace Hollywood is an industry-driven, non-profit workforce development organization consisting of representatives from the entertainment industry, government, education, labor and community-based organizations.
Our primary goal is to ensure that historically underrepresented and economically disadvantaged communities in Los Angeles can effectively compete for and gain access to jobs and business opportunities within the entertainment industry.
Specific objectives include:
- Increase access to high quality, affordable, and industry-responsive education & training programs;
- Increase access to entertainment industry jobs and business opportunities.
Programs and Services:
Education & Training
Workplace Hollywood will serve as a vehicle for industry to play a significant role in the development of its future workforce by engaging industry professionals in activities such as curriculum design, guest lecturing, and technical advising. Our education & training initiatives include: a) development of both a high school entertainment curricula within the Los Angeles Unified School District and a new entertainment studies program within the Los Angeles Community College District, b) creating work-based learning opportunities such as internships and faculty shadowing, and c) financing for community-based training programs that prepare candidates to successfully compete for opportunities in the entertainment industry.
Grant Program
Workplace Hollywood will provide grants to non-profit organizations that support the mission of the organization in areas such as: education & training, social support services, technology enhancement, and enterprise development.
Information Clearinghouse
Workplace Hollywood recognizes that a crucial aspect to linking people into quality jobs and business opportunities is access to information. Information must be well organized, current, and readily available to both potential candidates and industry. Workplace Hollywood will open a program office to the public to serve as a "clearinghouse" of information about affordable, accessible, competency-based education & training resources. Current job, internship, and contracting opportunities will be shared with education & training partners via a program web-page. Industry will have access to an inventory of local vendors and human resources.
Placement / Monitoring
By creating and sustaining a workforce that meets the ever-changing needs of the entertainment industry, we will encourage industry employers to make Workplace Hollywood their "first consideration." Workplace Hollywood will provide assessment, orientation, and job referral services.
Workplace Hollywood is currently being expanded and formalized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
