Community Planning

The Community Planning program at LATTC is the only program offered at an accredited community college in the United States.

Our unique program provides students the knowledge and training needed for successful employment in the field of community and economic development. The community and economic development industry focuses on revitalizing low and moderate income communities. Rebuilding the economic, physical and social infrastructure of urban communities represents a new, growing and exciting career opportunity.

An Associate in Arts Degree in Community Planning helps students further develop their skills and advance their careers in the community planning and economic development field.

A Certificate of Completion in Community Planning provides students with basic community planning terminology, development strategies, and other technical skills needed to enter the industry.

The Community Planning Program also awards Skills Certificates in:

  • Emergency Preparedness
  • Non-Profit Executive Manager
  • Community GIS-Mapping LA
  • Real Estate Urban Development/CARAT

Mortgage Finance

The LATTC Mortgage Finance program is one of three programs nationwide that the Fannie Mae Foundation created for the purpose

of developing a pipeline of well-trained and diverse workers for the mortgage finance industry. The Mortgage Finance Program

focuses its education and training on the wealth and asset building of its students and the inner city communities it serves. The program has been expanded to address consumer education needs around financial and credit management, homeownership, and general asset building. The Mortgage Finance program continues to develop a robust and comprehensive offering of education and training that serves consumers, students preparing to enter the mortgage industry and current mortgage professionals.

An Associate in Arts Degree in Mortgage Finance will give students the knowledge and training needed for successful employment

and advancement in the residential mortgage and real estate industry.

A Certificate of Completion in Mortgage Finance provides students with a good understanding of the mortgage finance industry, knowledge of mortgage finance concepts and terminology and the skills to complete residential mortgage calculations needed for entry-level jobs  in the mortgage finance and real estate industry.

The Mortgage Finance Program also awards Skills Certificates in:

  • Bank Teller
  • Financial/Homeownership Counselor
  • Mortgage Loan Officer
  • Loan Processor

Real Estate

The Real Estate program prepares students seeking careers as real estate professionals and equips the general public who are

prospective property owners, present property owners, or real estate investors with important real estate knowledge. The program explores many aspects of the real estate profession allowing students to acquire entry-level marketable skills while gaining much of

the necessary course work to obtain a California state license as a real estate sales agent and/or broker. The program also offers advanced courses for real estate agents or for individuals in real estate related fields and industries.

An Associate in Arts Degree in Real Estate may be met by completing a list of required units and general education courses.

A Certificate of Completion in Real Estate prepares students for a variety of entry-level and advanced career opportunities in the real estate profession.
