Prepare for a Meaningful Career in the Mortgage Finance Industry

Where do you see yourself in five years?

If you see yourself in an exciting career that provides challenging opportunities, long-term growth potential, and allows you to help others, a career in the mortgage finance industry may be exactly what you want.

What is the mortgage finance industry?

It's a solid industry. People will always buy homes and need mortgages to pay for them. And there's hardly anything more satisfying than helping people in your community get the homes they've dreamed of for years. By choosing a career in mortgage finance, you can work at a mortgage bank, commercial bank, real estate agency, secondary market organization, housing and community development organization, private mortgage insurance agency, or other housing finance institution.

The Los Angeles Trade Technical College Mortgage Finance Program is an exciting opportunity!

Supported by the Fannie Mae Foundation and the Los Angeles mortgage lending and housing community development industry, LA Trade Tech College created this innovative program to provide a broad array of career opportunities in home mortgage and community lending with the major objective of increasing the number of minority professionals in the field. The program offers you dynamic career potential and positions you to help others achieve the dream of homeownership and quality neighborhoods. A combination of classroom lectures and workplace experience ensure the broadest possible exposure to the mortgage finance industry and will open the door to a professional career in Los Angeles, California, or anywhere in the nation.

Opportunities

Your career can make a difference.

The mortgage finance industry is a dynamic and important one. When you consider that owning a home is the basic building block of American society and community life, and mortgages are the foundation of homeownership, you will begin to see the important role you can play by choosing a career in mortgage finance. It is far from being only about numbers. It is about homeownership -- the dream of most Americans.

What are the career opportunities?

The Los Angeles Trade Tech Mortgage Finance Program will give you the necessary skills and information to enhance your employment opportunities with leading mortgage and housing community development organizations. There are only two other programs of this scope nationwide.

In addition to our innovative classroom work, you'll receive hands-on job experience. The organizations we're partnering with offer a variety of opportunities for students enrolled in the Trade Tech Mortgage Finance Program to demonstrate their interests, skills, and abilities to potential employers.

Many of these businesses are committed to hiring program graduates, and you'll be prepared to succeed at entry-level positions with real growth potential.

What courses will be offered?

Affordable housing finance for culturally diverse markets is the common theme in all of the mortgage finance courses. These classes will cover creative approaches to assisting underserved households, particularly minorities and women, to afford homeownership. Other classes will cover important information such as how to underwrite and process mortgage loans, technological innovations in mortgage finance technology, mortgage finance products, fair housing/fair lending laws and regulations, and community development strategies.
