Public Allies Los Angeles, a program of CDTech, celebrates 10 years of building diverse young leaders in Los Angeles.
For more than 10 years, Public Allies Los Angeles has successfully identified and graduated more than (250) young adults aged 18-30 and 75% continue to work in the nonprofit sector. Allies become leaders who can engage volunteers, unite people, lead effective projects and commit to long-term social change.
To celebrate the accomplishments of our young people and the many organizations who have shaped them and build support for the next generation of young leaders, Public Allies Los Angeles will be holding a 10-Year Anniversary Celebration Benefit Luncheon on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the San Antonio Winery in Los Angeles.
We are honored to have keynote speaker, former U.S. Senator, Harris Wofford. Harris Wofford has been central to every major effort to advance civic service in the United States during the past five decades, including his early work in the civil rights movement with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the founding of the Peace Corps. More recently, he has played a key role in crafting and passing the trailblazing legislation that created AmeriCorps, the Learn and Serve America program, and the Corporation for National and Community Service. Following Wofford’s Senate tenure, President Clinton appointed him CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service, a role he filled from 1995 to 2001.
