The Los Angeles County Collaborative is one of six regional projects launched
under California's Regional Workforce Preparation and Economic Development
Act of 1997. The goal of the legislation was to create a comprehensive
workforce development system that would integrate the job seeker, employer
and education and training communities.
To accomplish
this goal, the Collaborative has developed several products:
An
Internet search engine, www.laworkforce.org,
that connects different information systems, so that job seekers, employers,
education/training providers and others can easily access information
about jobs, salaries, career ladders, labor market trends and education
and training resources in Los Angeles County.

An
Internet-based mapping application, maps.laworkforce.org,
that maps by city or zip code, businesses and training resources for
metalwork, food preparation and apparel manufacturing.
 A
"Skills Gap" profile of key occupations in four industries
so that identified gaps in skill sets and education curricula can be
closed through industry-led efforts. You will need Adobe's free Acrobat
